Rebuilding Together New Britain (RTNB) is a non-profit organization that assists low-income, New Britain homeowners, specifically the elderly, disabled, and families with children, with critical home maintenance and repairs that they are unable to manage on their own due to physical and/or financial limitations. These services are provided at no cost to the homeowner, and are performed, primarily, by RTNB volunteers.
RTNB's goal is to ensure these homeowners continue to live in comfort, warmth and safety in their own homes. In so doing, RTNB also promotes volunteerism, community activism, preserve and maintain affordable housing and neighborhoods, and prevent urban blight.
RTNB maximizes resources and services by collaborating with businesses and organizations from throughout the region. Recent projects have involved volunteers and/or donations from the American Red Cross, the City of New Britain, New Britain Housing Authority, New Britain Fire Department, American Savings Foundation, and businesses such as Stanley Works, Lowe's, Home Depot, Sear's Holdings, OKAY Industries, Connecticut Light & Power, and many others. Community outreach efforts include collaborations with area service organizations such as CW Resources/Meals on Wheels, New Britain Senior Center, Neighborhood Housing Services, TRIAD, and others.
Rebuilding Together New Britain is a local affiliate of the largest volunteer-based home rehabilitation organization in America, Rebuilding Together, Washington, D.C. .
